My wife and I recently watched "Man of God", a movie about the life of St. Nektarios. What a blessing to learn about this holy man!

St. Nektarios

"Born in Selyvria, Thrace (part of present-day Turkey), in October of 1846 as Anastasios Kephalas, Nektarios (his ordained name) began working and studying in Constantinople at age 14. Six years later he traveled to the island of Chios and entered a monastery. From there, he went to serve under Patriarch Sophronios, of Alexandria, Egypt."

St. Nektarios' life seems to provide us hope and confidence for gaining closer access to God. Watching the movie captured our full attention as we found oursleves wanting to remove the persecution he experienced from those who failed to restrain personal greed and prejudice.
