Items to cover Day One in all classes:


-         Welcome students to the class and introduce yourself:

 

·        How to pronounce your name and permission to refer to you as “Coach”

·        Your education: high school and two degrees from OSU

·        Your family: married for 56 years, 3 grown children, and 12 grandchildren

 

·        Work experience: Over 30 years with Ditch Witch primarily as director of human resource development and as change agent

·        Your experience with this course: you taught 12 years for NOC

 

·        Your “style” – When the learner is ready the teach is there!

 

 

·        Pull up and go over the syllabus

 

·        Let the students know of the importance of taking notes (and that if there is a quiz, they can use notes)

 

 

·        Introduce the “Exchange of Value” concept…Ask the students to hold up  their hand if they want an “A”, “B”…and let then know what value you would expect given the letter grade they want.

 

·        Let students know that the value you give is primarily related to the knowledge you have to share based on your vast business experience.

 

 

·        Let the know that in lieu of traditional testing we use assignments for evaluating their learning and performance.
