Genevieve Netherton has provided us a wonderful blog post on the goodcatholic.com website.
Netherton cites St. Louis de Monfort's "ten principal virtues fo the most Holy Virgin Mary":
They are:
Profound humility
Lively faith
Blind obedience
Continual prayer
Universal mortification
Divine purity
Ardent charity
Heroic patience
Angelic sweetness
Divine wisdom
Needless to say, it is very humbling to read over the virtues while thinking about my character and actions. I have a lot of work to do!
As I spend time pondering on these virtues the clearest thought that arises is that I should focus on creating the habit of "Blind Obedience."
Netherton writes that "Blind Obedience" might be described as: "Blind — To fully trust in God’s plan for our lives even when we don’t understand it, knowing that He is Truth itself. Obedience — 'As a virtue, it is pleasing to God because it means the sacrifice of one’s will out of love for God '(Catholic Dictionary). Obedience is faithfully carrying out the commandments of God."
Simple description of the "Blind Obedience" virtue but, so challenging to live the virtue.
Lord, may I begin a new habit, a habit of more fully trusting in You and in Your plan for my life. You have always provided and there is no reason for me to not fully trust in You! Amen!
