Reading Pope Francis's February 16th homily sparks much to ponder on. The homily focuses on the "beatitudes" and the invitation to "build bridges and create space for encounter and dialogue, to enlighten minds and warm hearts."
Pope Francis challenges us to revisit the Beatitudes (Luke 6:20-21 in particular) and take on a new mindset (to see beyond appearances and recognize beauty even amidst fraility) to "look at reality with God's gaze."
Francis states, "As artists and representatives of the world of culture, you are called to be witnesses to the revolutionary vision of the Beatitudes." He challenges us to accept that our mission is not limited to creating beauty, but to "reveal the truth, goodness, and beauty hidden within the folds of history, to give voice to the voiceless, and to transform pain into hope."
I feel as though my vocation is to serve within a "community" of learners. I am a teacher/coach and thereby, an artist. Through relationships with learners I strive to enlighten minds and encourage the value for life-long learning. My "time and purpose" is a journey closer to God while seeking to know Jesus while leading others in discovery of hidden greatness. I desire to serve as a "Pilgrim", finding my way closer to God by serving on vocation within a community of learners.
