"Relevance" for public education

I have often wondered (and pondered on) how we might bring new "Relevance" and purpose to public education. A "why" that might increase motivation for the learner to learn and the teacher's service for the learner.

Well, today I have new hope for the idea of "Career Pathway"/"Career Development!"

This morning the local superintendent and I had a very positive and productive phone conversation about a new grant the school received for establishing and utilizing a "Career Development" position to integrate the interest and aptitude of the learner into the school curriculum.

It's premature to know the results of such an idea and effort but, my hope for new "Relevance" for public education is growing.
