What does love look like?
This photo provides one piece of clear evidence!
Annie holding Pearl in her arms cleaning her after their morning swim (May 17, 2019)
Annie, Pearl, and Lula went with me on a walk this afternoon (Wed. 2-13-19)
Great day for a nap!
Lula keeps an eye on Pearl (who is napping)
Here is a photo of Lula (our cat) keeping watch over Pearl (who is napping in our front yard).
Annie decided to turn things around on Pearl. Normally it is Pearl resting her head on top of Annie while basking in the warm sunshine. Here Annie takes advantage of the "headrest" to enjoy the sunshine.
Pearl is stepping up her marketing efforts
Pearl has a habit of visiting our neighbors yard and exploring for a piece of collateral material to
use in her marketing efforts (trying to lure us outside to play). One of her most recent excursions
provided her opportunity to really step up her marketing...A red jacket to bring home.

Pearl is alert and ready to play - Annie seems dis-interested
Pearl is growing up quickly - she will be 7 months on Sept. 28th
Pearl's latest "retrieval" and "lure" to get someone out to play
Yesterday afternoon I looked out our front door to the front lawn and saw Pearl's latest retrieval.
This wheel is off someone's mower attachment (I hope it isn't one off our's). It weighs about
2 lbs or so.
It is evident Pearl is stepping up her "game" on trying to lure someone outside to play.

When the "cat's" away, the "mice" will play.
Mary Louise has been in Omaha helping watch Sarah's kids for a couple of days
(while Sarah and Gabe took Isaiah to move into his college). I don't think Mary
Louise (the "cat" in this case) would approve of the mouse (Pearl in this case)
resting in our flower garden.

A lot of play makes for a nap today.
This morning (Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017) Annie and Pearl made their normal hike out on the farm
and upon returning to the house began trying to convince me to take them for a walk. Given the
morning was so nice and comfortable, I gave in and the three of us proceeded to walk down the
county road. What joy to watch the dogs explore (mainly with their nose) and to enjoy the start
of a new day outside with their companionship.
The walk didn't seem to be enough to satisfy Pearl's desire for activity. So, I grabbed one of her
favorite toys (the rope in the photo) and we played for another several minutes.
Soon after the play ended, Pearl and Annie decided to take a nap on our porch (photo).

Pearl has quickly developed marketing skills for attracting us outside to play.
Annie is the ideal mentor
Pearl has recruited Annie for her marketing ploys
It seems as though Pearl lacked confidence for being able to attract us outside (to play) with
one of her regular "promos". So, yesterday evening, Annie showed up at the door with Pearl and both of them offered "hugs" (with their eyes) in hope we would come out to play.

"Belly Up" seems to be Pearl's preferred resting position
"Would anyone like a pretzel?"
Amy, our oldest daughter, brought a "pretzel" toy for Pearl to use and, of course, Pearl quickly incorporated it into her marketing toolbox. "Would you like to come out and have a "pretzel"?
Pearl's latest antic - she has built her own nesting spot in our flower garden
As you can see, Pearl's new nesting
spot is in the middle of our Muhly grass.
Pearl has her own little spa for a "mud" bath
"Are You Sure We Are Done Playing"?
This is the "typical" look I get from Pearl after we have been playing with one of her "toys"...Seems like I run out of steam much sooner than she does. If I sit down in one of our porch chairs she will drop the toy by my feet, sit down right next to me, and give me this type of "look". And, it seems to work more often than not so I get up and play with her a little longer. Hard to refuse the "hug" she gives with her eyes.
